Dear Tim

It was with desperation that I first contacted you in 1993. I had recently submitted plans to the local council to build a double brick, ranch style house with a colourbond roof and with polished floorboards through out 75% of the house as an owner builder.

The building surveyor had denied the plan submission unless I did one of two things

1: Install insulation between the brick walls
or
2: Install insulation under the floor.

Feeling depressed and not knowing what to do I was flicking through a building magazine at a newsagent when I came upon. an advert for Concertina Foil Batts. I subsequently rang you the same day and had a long chat about the benefits of Concertina Foil Batts.

I installed the foil batts under the floor and installed recycled paper insulation in the ceiling with sisalation under the colorbond roof

I have been delighted with the results and quite often have visitors comment that the floors aren't cold and you can walk around without slippers in winter. I also intend to install foil batts in the roof cavity on top of the insulation before the next summer to further improve our comfort.

One of the benefits that I have witnessed is that the floors breathe and although the floors move slightly with the seasons they haven't cupped or bowed etc.

A neighbours house was built using green hardwood bearers and joists and chipboard flooring. The builder insulated under the floors with blue poly styrene insulating board and sealed it all with duct tape and the owner wonders why the rising moisture keeps lifting the ceramic floor tiles.

Tim what I find amazing, is the amount of people in the building trades (Retailers included) who don't understand how insulation works and the correct application of the various insulations. Tim, please use this letter anyway you like and thank you for a product that works and is easy to install.

Thanks
